WHAT HAVE BEEN ACCOMPLISHED:

The Bayview Outfall Weir Structure is located near 2811 Bayview Drive in the City of Alameda, California. It was constructed in 1957 as part of the South Shore Development Project. It is a reinforced concrete structure with a plan overall dimension of 38'-2" x 38'-2" and supported on timber pile foundation. The height of the structure from the top of base slab to the top of walkway is 12'-0". This weir structure had deteriorated and corroded to the extent that repair was needed to all columns to maintain structural integrity and to mitigate future corrosion. CEQA Categorically Exempt Environmental Declaration was obtained for construction.

The repair work included epoxy crack injection to repair cracks and retrofitting all 11 columns by Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP). Loose concrete was removed, corroded portion of reinforcement were removed and replaced, and the removed concrete areas were patched up prior to constructing FRP. 4 of the 11 columns were deteriorated to a state that the lower portion of the column was removed and reconstructed. Surface preparation, FRP installation and testing were carried out per manufacturer's requirements and in the presence of manufacturer's representatives.
